In Plastic Injection Molding
2,000 consecutive days of safety Every company wants to have — at least I sure hope they want to have — a long safety record for its employees. So when custom injection molder D&M Plastics LLC of Burlington, Ill., hit a streak of 1,000 consecutive days without a lost-time accident, that was something worth celebrating. Hitting 1,500 days was remarkable. Now it is marking 2,000 consecutive days, which seems impossible to top, if it weren't for the fact that D&M is in the process of topping that with every new day. "We're very proud of each of our team members who focus on safe outcomes every single day, and have helped us reach this milestone," CEO and President Chip Owen said in a news release. "Safety is critically important at D&M. It helps us provide a great work environment for our employees, and the best possible quality and products for our customers." For those of you trying to figure out how far back that 2,000 days takes D&M, the streak began about five-and-a-half years ago. In 2017 when Editor Don Loepp visited the company, Owens talked about how the safety message was built into D&M's structure. Every shift begins with a team meeting where workers first talk about safety, then share ideas for process improvements that can save time and money. Upgrading safety helmets An Oregon company that has already found success with developing a new energy absorber for bicycle helmets is about to launch safety helmets with the same material. While there have been many improvements to bike helmets over the years, they traditionally have relied on some type of foam inner layer between the outer hard plastic and a cyclist's head. WaveCel, a Wilson, Ore.-based company, instead uses a flexible plastic honeycomb grid that collapses and moves to take the impact and spread it out and away from the head. The company hasn't said exactly what the material is, but told Fast Company that it was 15 years in the making and is produced in the U.S. WaveCel's material has been used in helmets made by the bike company Trek since 2019 and hard hats with it begin shipping in May.

NAGOYA, Japan -- Toyota Motor plans to produce a total of 10.4 million units globally combining its Toyota and Lexus brands for the fiscal year 2022 ending in March 2023, Nikkei learned Saturday. This marks the first time the auto group will top 10 million units, boosted by increased demand in the wake of successful vaccination campaigns as well as sufficient production of semiconductors. Toyota has notified its main suppliers of its production plans. Suppliers will form their investment strategies leading up to fiscal 2022 based on this information. The Japanese auto giant expects China and the U.S. to bolster the automotive market. Toyota's decision to increase production will be felt across the automobile supply chain and will likely be a major driving force for a manufacturing rebound in the post-COVID world. Toyota's production plans for this fiscal year ending March 2022 eyes a total of 9.5 million units. Plans for the following year envision manufacturing 7.1 million units overseas and 3.3 million units in Japan, according to an internal document Nikkei has seen. Overseas production will see a roughly 10% jump, while output in Japan will be raised around 3%. In 2020, Toyota overtook Volkswagen in sales, regaining the crown as the world's top selling automaker for the first time in five years. It is determined to keep it that way, as it prepares to enter the era of electrification. Auto parts suppliers prefer to work with customers with large orders, and Toyota's production boost is likely to put it in an advantageous position in procuring batteries and motors for next-generation vehicles. Currently global shortages of chips weigh heavily on automakers' production. A senior Toyota executive told Nikkei that the company expects chip procurement to "be normalized next year and there will be no impact" on output. An executive of a parts manufacturer also said "production is scheduled to grow from around fall this year." Thailand Plastic Automotive Supply Chain.

For those of you who may be interested in what elements are used in the manufacturing process, let's take a closer look: Latex Gloves: The main component that makes up this particular glove is the sap that's derived from rubber trees, also known as Hevea Brasiliensis. The tree sap is comprised of a natural combination of various proteins and lipids. Chemical compounds are added to the sap; this includes ammonia, sulfur, pigments, zinc oxide, antioxidants, thiurams to accelerate the rubber hardening process, as well as anti-webbing agents. Nitrile Gloves: They're created from what is called nitrile butadiene rubber, which is a copolymer that's formed by the process of bonding two molecules - butadiene and acrylonitrile. Because of this, it's known as a synthetic rubber. Other elements that are used in the manufacturing process are chlorine and polymer which aids in making the surface less friction-resistant for easy glove removal, as well as water, bleach, calcium carbonate, calcium nitrate, and petroleum. Nitrile Disposable Gloves In response to the challenges faced by oversea healthcare facilities/companies to source quality gloves with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and CE approvals in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are offering our services for sourcing powder-free/powder nitrile examination gloves and personal protective equipment (PPE), in Thailand. We hope to give our value-added services to both the buyer and seller by giving the all-necessary information, verification, quality check (third party) and use international SOP to oversee the contracts and supply chain for inspection and timely delivery. We plan to source additional contracts and create relationships with the local industry. We are current in the final stages to sign buyer-seller contracts for a total of 220 million additional gloves that will be delivered in 2021 -2022. Contact Us for further details. If you need to buy new gloves, you might wonder if you should purchase nitrile or latex gloves. Both are very popular, but it’s important to consider how they vary and which one is better. Isn’t nitrile the same as latex? While both nitrile and latex gloves are durable and made from rubber, nitrile doesn’t contain the same proteins that are found in latex, which is why they’re safer for people with latex allergies. With that in mind, let’s check out the pros and cons of nitrile vs latex gloves. This will help you to find out exactly how they differ from each other and which one is best for your needs. Latex gloves are popular because they’re strong, and this makes them a solid choice in industrial and medical fields. Pros Latex gloves fit hands like a second skin, which gives them tactile sensitivity and dexterity. The above point makes them valuable for use in sensitive and precise applications, such as surgery. They are usually lightly powdered, and this makes them easier to put on and take off. They are very elastic, and that increases their level of strength. Cons Since latex gloves are powdered, this can cause allergic reactions in some people. Latex in general is an allergen, which can make it dangerous to use when it comes to healthcare settings. Due to their color and how they’re like a second skin, latex gloves can make it difficult for you to detect tears and punctures in them. Latex gloves do not handle chemicals and solvents very well, offering minimal protection against them. Pros Nitrile gloves are extremely strong and durable, while being resistant to punctures and tears. These gloves come in a variety of colors so that it makes it easier to notice if they have tears in them. Their colors can also help to conceal substances that could be on them, such as tattoo ink or blood. Nitrile gloves are highly resistant to chemicals and solvents. Medical-grade gloves are usually made out of nitrile because this material is resistant to fats and oils in the body. Since they don’t contain any latex, nitrile gloves are safe for people who have latex allergies. This is especially beneficial because some allergic reactions to latex can be life-threatening. An example is anaphylaxis. Cons Nitrile gloves tend to be a bit more expensive than latex gloves. These gloves are not as comfortable as compared to latex gloves. This is something to bear in mind if you need to wear the gloves for long periods of time. Nitrile is said to have less tensile strength than other glove materials, such as latex. Tensile strength is the load that a material can tolerate before cracking or breaking. That said, nitrile still offers excellent protection against tears, cuts, and punctures. COOLING DESIGN " & "VERIFICATION" I got the query about "Cooling" of Moldflow Simulation few weeks ago and once again yesterday night with the same question during BEER time in Chonburi :) How to use Moldflow for specifying Cooling Time ? > The answer is related to few factors; BEM(Cycle Average) , FEM(real Mold surface) ; Input water temperature, flow rate, ... , Ejection temperature ! , etc. > If Cycle average was used --- You have to reach it first ! > If Not , you run on FEM , Mold base in Solid mesh (Tetrahedral must be prepared). The picture, can show you the basic one about your Output of Cooling Result. 1st Ensure your LOGs , check your Average Mold Surface Temperature , If you can reach Cycle Average (exactly), Go to 2nd. 2nd Check the Temperature, Part Your Core / Cavity Temperature should not much different. Try to eliminate your Hot spot which is/are especially hotter than Ejection temperature ### ผมได้รับคำถามเกี่ยวกับ "COOLING design" ของ Moldflow Simulation เมื่อไม่กี่สัปดาห์ก่อนและเมื่อวานนี้พบกับคำถามเดียวกันในช่วงที่จิบเบียร์อยู่ใน ชลบุรี :) คำถามคือ จะใช้ Moldflow เพื่อระบุ Cooling Time ได้อย่างไร?

As Thailand enters the third quarter of 2020, the country’s strict measures to prevent the pandemic of Covid-19 has paid off and applauded by the international community. The next step is to speed up the economic and industrial recovery especially the mold & die industry which is an important supporting industry. As a veteran of this industry, The President of the Alliance for Supporting Industries Association Mr. Viroj Sirithanasart has expressed his opinions as follows: “The spread of Covid-19 has left a great impact on the Thai economy. Consumers may refrain from purchasing new products at the moment. However, some industries can still grow amidst this crisis such as medical tools and equipment which include face shields, PPE suits, rubber gloves, cleanroom equipment, as well as packaging supplies following the rise of WFH and online commerce which have contributed to the high demand of the latter product categories.” “After we have managed the Covid-19, many factories may reduce their workforce, and there could be changes in the trend of foreign players in Thailand’s industrial landscape. For example, China may increase their investment in Thailand and replaces Japan as our biggest investor. At any rate, Thailand is still an essential production base of many Japanese brands due to a long history of cooperation and also the availability of infrastructure which Japan has invested in Thailand throughout many decades.” “As molds & dies are necessary in a wide variety of industries, many factories will need to re-strategize their production and investment plans for the second half of this year and subsequent years. Some may look for good quality machinery with accessible price ranges. Some may want to purchase new machinery to elevate their operation quality and reduce cost, or some may try to invest in high-technologies to arm themselves against long-term uncertainties. When combined with the government’s current economic relief measures for SMEs, these manufacturers could be looking for solutions to help strengthen their operations.”

In Environment Cause
It is present in almost every aspect of modern life, from water bottles to aircraft. Without it, our lives would not be the same. However, it is now considered an environmental evil because of the havoc that plastic waste wreaks. We see it on our streets, in our rivers and lakes, on our beaches and even in our deepest oceans. There will be more plastic than fish in the ocean in 30 years, scientists estimate. Let us not be foolish enough to think the plastic will stay there. After it is eaten by fish and marine life, causing great damage, it enters the bodies of anyone who eats them. Many environmental activists are calling for a ban on plastics. However, the very properties that make plastic so dangerous - its durability and long lifespan - also make it a great asset. A material that will not die or be destroyed for five hundred years is valuable. We can reuse it almost endlessly. The problem is not plastic itself. The problem is using it irresponsibly. A material that can be constantly recycled is a great help to ecology and the economy, especially when the human population is growing rapidly and our lifestyle demands are increasing exponentially. The solution is not to ban plastic, but to ensure that it is used responsibly and recycled properly. However, plastic recycling is a complicated issue. There are so many different grades of plastic, each requiring their own recycling process. Some of these plastic types are not even recyclable in a commercially viable manner. The process of collecting and sorting these different categories has many challenges, including technological capacity, and social awareness around disposal. A blueprint to transform "filth into wealth" is the need of the hour. A comprehensive legal and policy framework to streamline and commercialise the process of plastic recycling must be created. It is the plastic industry’s responsibility to raise the necessary social awareness about responsible use and recycling. If we can show people that plastic is precious, you will not find a piece of plastic waste anywhere. As host of World Environment Day 2018, India must lead by example, by eliminating single-use plastic. Strict enforcement of law is key. If the world’s major powers, including India, China, the US and the EU, introduce this ban at a policy level, it will percolate easily to the rest of the world. Humanity must realise that, given our current footprint, reusing and recycling everything is most important. Right now, we treat ecological concerns as an obligation to fulfill. They are not an obligation - our lives depend on them. Our very body is an extract from this planet. Preserving and nurturing Earth is no different from creating a good life for ourselves. Our life is an integrated, connected life. There can be no good life without a good planet. Our ideas about development and the economy have removed us from this reality. It is time we realize that the fanciful notions we have about life and the world no longer work. We have to do something more mature. This maturity must come from business, industry and government. In our lives, if we do not do what we cannot do, it is not a problem. But if we do not do what we can do, we are a disaster. It is my wish that we, as a generation, do not become a disaster.
